Showcase event highlights startups

Startup Tucson held its biannual Startup Showcase Nov. 14 to highlight businesses that have participated in its Pre-Accelerator Program and to provide the community with an opportunity to get to know them.

Sixteen businesses participated in the Pre-Accelerator event, ranging from service companies to food products and creative arts. Several of the startups showed off their goods and services to family, friends and invited community members. Each attendee talked to the businesses and provided feedback. Winners were selected as the best new startup.

First place was awarded to Marissa Amezcua, who operates Micha’s Wellness Bar, a community-focused business dedicated to promoting health, wellness and creativity through fresh juices, wellness shots and educational workshops.

Second place went to KG Green, who is launching The Attunement Collective. KG’s goal is to develop a professional coaching and consultation business that will provide reflective supervision, coaching and consulting for the development of a trauma-informed workplace.

Startup Tucson's Pre-Accelerator Program is designed to support early-stage entrepreneurs as they work to build their company. It covers topics like business planning, financials, marketing and more. Each cohort includes up to 30 other founders from Southern Arizona that share a goal of building a thriving venture.

The program teaches entrepreneurs how to develop and/or grow their business with a focus on building strong business foundations, fostering a supportive community, and connecting them with qualified experts and valuable resources. The startups also gain full access to the extensive benefits of Startup Tucson's membership program.
