Aashay Arora and Matthew Aguayo, the founders of EnKoat, competed in IdeaFunding in 2019 with their innovative solution to high heating and cooling costs. Let's see what they've been up to in 2020...
Toddler status achieved: EnKoat turned two this year! They hired their first employee and their family has started to grow. They now have a career section on their website and are looking for motivated self-starters who want to change the world, just like the two of them.
They conducted a field pilot project which showed them significant real world reduction in heating and cooling costs that will greatly benefit their business. In national news, EnKoat was featured across various media platforms including Forbes 30 under 30 list for energy, 50 to Watch list for 2020 by the Cleantech Group, and "Forward thinking founders" podcast where they discussed their journey as founders.
In the prize pitching arena, they stepped into the ring for various opportunities to gain support for their company. At EarthX Cleantech Pitch Competition they finished as runners up out of 250 startup from round the world and secured Phase I SBIR funding from the National Science Foundation.
Last but not least, EnKoat was selected as one of eight companies to engage in the 6th cohort of the Joules accelerator, as well as the 6th sector of the Wells Fargo Innovation Incubator (IN2).
"2020 has taught us a lot. We’ve braved the tough times throughout this pandemic; we are strengthened by them and we have a strong conviction that we will reach even greater heights in 2021!" Startup Tucson is honored and proud to see companies like EnKoat take off with intentional decisions and determination.
