Arizona Trail Association: Rails to Trails Conservancy awarded $421,500 in grants to programs working to develop and activate local and regional trail networks.

Among the 41 grantees was Arizona Trail Association for its Seeds of Stewardship program, which provides outdoor environmental education in Tucson using the Arizona Trail as an experiential learning classroom to foster a connection between youth and their surrounding public lands.

The grants are designed to support projects that create meaningful quality-of-life opportunities and equitable access to safe spaces where people can walk, bike and be active outside in the communities where they live.

Startup Tucson: The U.S. Small Business Administration named Startup Tucson a Stage Two winner for the 2024 Growth Accelerator Fund Competition. The organization was one of 44 honored and the only one from Arizona.

Startup Tucson will take home $100,000 for its work in collaboration with the University of Arizona Center for Innovation on the FEAST (Food, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture, Science, and Technology) initiative.

FEAST aims to catalyze the regional ecosystem for science, technology, engineering and math-based entrepreneurs and startups, focusing on the agricultural and food technology sectors.

Blue Rose Legacy Home Care: Blue Rose Legacy Home Care’s Estella Dunlap has been nominated for the Home Care Association of America’s 2024 Caregiver of the Year award. She is among the top 500 home caregivers nominated by agencies nationwide. The honor celebrates caregivers who provide exceptional care to their clients.

The top caregiver will be announced on Oct. 28. The winner will also receive $2,500.

Town of Oro Valley: The town has been named a Triple Crown winner for fiscal year 2023 by the Government Finance Officers Association. The designation recognizes governments that have received GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award in a single fiscal year.

“We’re pleased to be recognized by the GFOA,” said Chief Financial Officer David Gephart. “It reflects the many hours of our dedicated, hard-working team who care about and are charged with producing accurate, easy-to-read financial information.”
