The U.S. Commerce Department has awarded the Arizona Government Information Technology Agency about $2.3 million as part of a program to create by February 2011 a searchable national map of available broadband services and planning.
The grant, from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, includes about $1.8 million for broadband data collection and mapping over a two-year period, and nearly $500,000 for broadband planning activities over three years.
